Review: Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015)

Review: Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015)

Bear the name of a horror movie which is known as one of the terseram in recent years, Insidious: Chapter 3 obviously must meet the expectations were quite high. Appears after the film Insidious (2010) and Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013), both directed by James Wan, Chapter 3 conceived as a prequel, but it is still associated with the astral The Further peeled in the two previous films. This time the director's chair left to Leigh Whannell, who is none other than Insidious screenwriter previous two films, as well as cast members ghost hunter named Specs.

As emphasized in the premise and the opening line, Chapter 3 is no longer highlight the curse that afflicts Lambert family in the first and second films. Chapter 3 switches to an orphan girls who do carelessness so terrorized by supernatural beings. However, the actual film is not solely focused there. Chapter 3 also is the origin story of the ghost hunter team who appeared in the series Insidious, namely Elise (Lin Shaye), Specs (Leigh Whannell) and Tucker (Angus Sampson).

Review: Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015)

Quinn Brenner (Stefanie Scott) still feel upset over his mother's death from cancer. His relationship with his father, Sean (Dermot Mulroney) is less harmonious also did not help. Quinn then tried to contact the spirit of his mother, and for which he came to the paranormal Elise. Elise had wanted to retire because of the horrors that often arise from his profession, but he once wanted to help Quinn. After trying, Elise Quinn advised to no longer tried to call his mother, because his call that will be heard in the world of the spirits. That means responding to the call is not necessarily the ghost of his mother. But, like a fragile teenager who paced curious-and his name is also a horror film, it is impossible Quinn took her advice.

For those who have attended the previous two series Insidious, must have been familiar with the concept of The Further and mechanisms. Based on that, Chapter 3 is no longer present The Further as a surprise, so the only explanation given to taste. That is quite a difference is the creatures that appear in The Further this version, because this relates to the case and a different person. The advantage of the preparation of this story is for those who have seen the earlier version will be more familiar with the world that is built on this film. While the new watch from Chapter 3 will not lose anything from the previous two films.

It should be highlighted that one of the reasons Insidious-and horror movies in general-is able to attract viewers is the opinion of these films have scenes of horror can bang on the heart, because it is a form of entertainment. It looks like it was realized by Whannell, so he designed the creatures, and the ways of their emergence as scary as possible in this film. Arguably his efforts did not fail. Even the appearance of scary creatures are actually very predictable, with the help of sinister creature design, artistic grammar tense with dim lighting, thrilling music and good timing, Chapter 3 still have spurs to frighten, or at least startle viewers.

The problem is, this film does not menawakan anything else other than the parade appearance astral beings. The story of the film itself was originally spoken by very carefully and slowly. Starting from a teenager with a family problem, and a psychic retired again called upon to utilize his ability to help others. However, when the story is getting rolling, there was virtually no significant progress on the basis of that, until the climax part when Elise finally reunited with the duo Specs and Tucker, and try to resolve family problems Brenner, it was already late.

It then compounded when part conclusion as oversimplifying, occurs suddenly without first built in the previous sections. Ranging from assistance from the "other voice", reconciliation Quinn and his father-who did not get along as equally sad to lose, until the arrival of the "spirit savior" out of nowhere, it all happened so lightning without explanation and flavor. Part conclusion that this overloaded the impression that the inaction and caution speak at in the early to mid part of the film is just a waste of time.

However, the lack of it may not be important for viewers who are looking for entertainment, as long as this film managed to make a surprised and excited. Vehicle entered the house like a ghost, do not need to think about in depth story, the origin of the concept has been understood and satisfied dikejut-is shaken and scared, it was more than enough. And it must be admitted, Chapter 3 presents the main menu with fine, plus an element of humor and physical action in some of its parts that makes it more entertaining.

However, as a film-not spacecraft, Chapter 3 does not leave the impression of more depth. This film just finished a clever product that scare, but struggled in the story, instead of giving freshness and trace means. Not one, but tend to play it safe, without innovation and value are able to make it memorable.

My score: 6/10

Mr. Nobody (2010)

Written and Directed by : Jaco Van Dormael
Starring : Jared Leto, Sarah Polley, Diane Kruger, Rhys Ifans, Juno Temple
Tahun : 2010
Score : 3,5 of 5

Synopsis:

Nemo Nobody is a man - an old man aged 120 years and one - the only person who can still die in a world where everyone when it can not die. It features deliver all others in the world at that time to figure out his life in the past, and Nemo back memories - memories of an absurd parallel.

My Review:

First - all, I want to apologize for my English language skills that really fit - barely, especially in the case of listening. Incidentally, I watched this movie on dvd the subtitle of his still chaotic. The combination of both escorted me on a high level of confusion when watching this film. Initially, my back - back nge-rewind to know the purpose of a conversation. But long - long tired also must repeatedly jamming rewind, consequently I watch this movie to end with multi-incomprehension and kesoktahuan while guessing - uninformed point.

But, beyond all that, watching this film is like watching the movie The Butterfly Effect in a version that is more metaphor, abstract, and rather science-fiction. I was invited to read literature like Ayu Utami or seno gumira ajidarma, which sometimes is full of metaphors and beyond logic. If you ever read a book dream - the dream of Einstein (sorry I forgot who authored), you will surely nod - nod when watching this film. Nemo memory of his past in various versions, all of which originated from a hard decision in his childhood. Watching the film is like witnessing a parallel world of Nemo Nobody, where world - the little world has a different way of life. Option he dropped on a step - long stride when his parents split up at the train station, can take him to the three girls different world, the world of his father, or his mother's world.

For me, this movie are invited rotating - turn. I have to parse a common thread there, compile, and looking for a relationship - a relationship that exist. Obviously, this film is not a movie that is easily digested. Plus subtitle both Indonesian and English are chaotic - which eventually forced me to exert my ability in the areas of listening, I came to the conclusion that the story is not sure in the end. My comments at the end of the film only: "That is what sihhh ???". Hehe .. Probably my brain are gag nyampe this movie. (So if you have any definitive conclusions about the intent of this movie can send a comment to me ... hehehe ...).

Fun to watch this movie for me probably is witnessing another act of a Jared Leto latter is more famous as a vocalist 30 seconds of Mars.

Jeff, Who Lives at Home (2011)

RottenTomatoes: 78% | JohanSaysMovie: 4/5

Starring: Jason Segel, Ed Helms, Susan Sarandon
Directed by: Jay and Mark Duplass
Genre: Drama, Comedy

Jeff, Who Lives at Homes tells the story of a strange day - starting from Jeff (Jason Segel), the youngest child lazy and childish, which is believed to be destiny. One day he believes that his destiny relating to telephone a wrong asking 'Kevin', which then led to a series of random events involving his older brother Pat (Ed Helms), which was no problem with his wife, and the mother (Susan Sarandon) who discover a secret fan in his office. The story is actually trivial with a touch of quirky - but Jay and Mark Duplass acting as a director and scriptwriter could bring a drama that not only funny but also touching. Its main focus is on brotherly relations between brother and sister, which of course marred by bickering and events - weird random events - but ultimately very touching. Powered by the acting is quite good from the three main characters, Jeff, Who Lives at Homes is a family drama rather to be missed.
